One of the hardest things to ever do in a career is to start over. Where do you begin? How do you form a successful idea then bring that idea to life? How do you keep it going once it takes off? It is hard, daunting, intimidating and lonely. So how do we do it?
People. That’s the answer. It always has been. We need only ask others for help.
While you might be the only person depending on this new venture for employment, you’re not alone in making it happen. I’ve started many new projects and chapters in my life, some major and some minor but the common denominator in any of their successes was that I reached out to people for support. Their input was always useful.
Even if the information wasn’t what I needed in that moment, I always learned something and could store that information away until I did need it.
Here’s the kicker though, it takes courage to ask others for help, support or guidance….especially if they’re strangers or industry leaders. However in my experience, they are almost always willing to help if your intentions are genuine and good. Leaders only want to lift others up.
So whether you’re starting a new program, a new project or a new career take the courage to ask others for help. Kindness is within us all, if we only ask it of ourselves and others.
